This Sunday
Our doors are open to all who seek God’s love. Sunday School and Adult Bible Class begin at 9:00 a.m., and the Divine Service follows at 10:00 a.m.
Who We Are
Christ Lutheran is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We hold to the historic teachings of the Lutheran Church as found in the Book of Concord. We gather around God’s Word and the Holy Sacraments, where Christ is present for us with forgiveness, life, and salvation.
The congregation began in the late 1850s, when Lutherans in Augusta first called a pastor to serve them. The present brick church was built in 1872. In 2008 a new front entrance was completed, with a stained-glass window of Luther’s Seal, in time for the congregation’s 150th anniversary in 2009. For more than a century and a half, this church has been a home for the Gospel along scenic Route 94.
What We Believe
Jesus is fully God and fully man, sent by the Father to be the Savior of the world. He died for our sins and was raised on the third day.
We cannot earn God’s forgiveness. It is given by grace, for Jesus’ sake alone, through His Word and Sacraments.
Baptism is God’s work, a gift for all nations, including infants. In it He gives and seals the forgiveness of sins.
Holy Communion is the true body and blood of Jesus under the bread and wine, given for the forgiveness of sins.
Our Pastor
Pastor Bell graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1986. He has served congregations in Nebraska, Indiana, and Iowa, and has been pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta, Missouri, since 2001. He and his wife, Julie, would be glad to greet you after the service.
